Mechanism of Action{}{}{}
<p style=\"text-align: left;\">  It contains multiple amines separated by one carbon from the polymer <a href=\"http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=10963\">backbone</a>. These amines exist in a protonated form in the intestine and interact with phosphate molecules through ionic and <a href=\"http://www.rxlist.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=26767\">hydrogen </a>bonding. By binding phosphate in the dietary tract and decreasing absorption and lowers the phosphate concentration in the serum.</p>
