<ul> <li style=\"text-align: left;\">Allergic: Rare cases of anaphylaxis has been reported with fluconazole administration.</li> <li style=\"text-align: left;\">Unknown effects: Central nervous system (Seizures);  dermal (exfoliative skin disorders such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis and alopecia); heamotologic/lymphatic (leukopenia including neutropenia, agranulocytosis and thrombocytopenia); metabolic (hypercholesrterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia; hypokalemia).  Side effects of fluconazole are more pronounced in HIV positive patients.  However, the pattern of the side effects is uniform.  </li> </ul>

<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Rifampicin and cimetidine decrease the effect of fluconazole while hydrochlorothiazides increase its effect.  Fluconazole is known to increase the effect of number of drugs by preventing their metabolism through the inhibition of cytochrome P-450.  This includes benzodiazepines, buspirone, carbamazepine, cisapride, oral contraceptives, statins, corticosteroids, warfarin, tricyclic antidepressants, theophylline, losartan, phenytoin, haloperidol, cyclosporine, alfentanil, tacrolimus, nisoldipine, protease inhibitors, vincristine, zolpidem, zidovudine, toltoridine, sulfonylureas. </p>

<ul> <li style=\"text-align: left;\">Vaginal candidiasis.</li> <li style=\"text-align: left;\">Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis.</li> <li style=\"text-align: left;\">Cryptococcal meningitis.</li> <li style=\"text-align: left;\">Prophylaxis: Fluconazole is used for the reduction of candidiasis infections in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation who receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy.</li> </ul>
